# Codex CLI × Tokenade

> Tokenade covers all of Codex CLI: every layer applies, and you change nothing about how you work.

## What `tokenade install` does

- Hooks in `~/.codex/hooks.json`: SessionStart, UserPromptSubmit, PreToolUse/PostToolUse on `Bash`, PreCompact, SubagentStart.
- `tokenade install` marks those hooks as trusted; `tokenade codex-trust` re-applies it if Codex asks again.
- Rules: `~/.codex/AGENTS.md`.
- MCP: every third-party server in `[mcp_servers]` of `~/.codex/config.toml` is wrapped as `tokenade mcp-proxy -- <original command>` (original kept, undone by `tokenade uninstall`), so its results reach you folded.
- If the hooks aren't trusted, a local proxy provider is added in `config.toml` (`model_providers.<id>.base_url`) and covers the same ground with your ChatGPT sign-in. A local LLM proxy (loopback only, started at boot) sits between you and the model API and folds tool results inside each request. `tokenade install` checks it answers before switching you over and restores your original config otherwise.
