The #1 tool to cut your AI agent's token bill.
Ranked #1 on the Token-Harness Optimizer Leaderboard. Zero config.
Tokenade is the simplest way to cut what your coding agent sends to the model — set it up once and save on every prompt.

What Tokenade does
Less tokens, same results — automatically, on every prompt.
Noisy command output, compacted
Builds, tests, logs, MCP tool results — Tokenade trims every noisy output your agent triggers down to what actually matters, before the model reads a single line. The compactors are smart: failures, numbers and the decisive lines always survive, so your agent never has to re-run a command raw to get around the compression.
Unlike other popular tools, your agent won't fight the compaction to recover lost information.

Your MCP servers, on a token diet
One command wraps every MCP server you use — GitHub, databases, browsers and more — behind Tokenade's proxy. Verbose JSON results are compacted in transit by tool-aware compactors, tool manifests are stripped down to their callable skeleton, and tools that can't run on your machine aren't even advertised to the agent.
- −0%on GitHub MCP responses, measured over real sessions
- −0%on verbose tool manifests — every tool stays fully callable
Real mcp-proxy telemetry · schemas keep names, types and required params intact.
Web search, rebuilt for agents
Tokenade replaces your agent's built-in web search with its own engine: the same answers, delivered as compact result lists instead of walls of rendered text — and cheaper, on every single search. If a search ever fails, it falls back to the native tool automatically, so you're never worse off.
- −0%tokens per search vs the agent's native tool
- 0%faster than the built-in web search
- 0%as reliable — with automatic fallback to the native tool
vs Claude Code's built-in WebSearch.
A local search that understands your code
Tokenade indexes and parses your project, then hands your agent real code-intelligence tools: semantic search to find code by meaning, map for the repo structure, query to jump to any symbol, skeleton for a file's signatures, impact for dependents. Because Tokenade knows what's a function and what's a variable, your agent stops reading whole files just to find one.
- −0%tokens on code-navigation tasks
- −0%tool calls to reach the same answer
- −0%tokens per file read with skeleton

Models that skip the small talk
Tokenade prompts your model to drop the pleasantries, recaps and filler — and keep every technical detail. Output tokens are the most expensive ones, so terser answers cut your bill directly. Measured against vanilla Claude Code and Caveman on THOL, the Token-Harness Optimizer Leaderboard.

- Caveman−0%
Measured against vanilla Claude Code and Caveman — long sessions (>200k tokens), THOL benchmark.
A context window managed like a budget
Tokenade knows exactly when your prompt cache expires, and compacts old context before it gets re-billed as fresh input. Resuming an old session? Stale oversized results are masked — and recoverable on demand. And when several commands can run at once, Tokenade batches them, turning multi-round back-and-forths into a single turn.
- −0%cache prefix — compaction fires early, before expiry re-billing
- 0turn instead of several — independent commands run batched
Never pay for the same bytes twice
Agents re-read the same things constantly — the same file, the same git status, the same tool output. Instead of re-serving identical bytes, Tokenade sends back a tiny reference — or just the diff against the previous read when the content changed. And it works everywhere: file reads, command outputs, tool results.
- −0%on the output of a command run a second time
- −0%on a file re-read identically
Measured on real sessions — the full bytes stay recoverable on demand.
Your agent reads the whole repo, not just the code
Point your agent at a PDF spec, a spreadsheet of results or a recorded meeting and it improvises — its built-in reader if it has one, otherwise whatever converter it can shell out to. You get an answer, and the raw output lands in your context at full price. Tokenade extracts them properly instead: over a hundred formats read and searched like any other file, media as metadata plus a transcript, images converted to something your agent can actually display.
Works on every agent Tokenade supports — nothing to configure.
- −0%tokens on a PDF read, vs Claude Code's built-in reader
- 0+formats read natively — documents, images, audio, video
PDF, Office and OpenDocument, EPUB, 17 image formats, 65 audio/video — plus magic-byte detection for files with a wrong or missing extension.
Your code never leaves your machine
Tokenade is local-first: no code, no prompts, no file paths ever reach our servers — only aggregate counters (how many tokens were saved, and by which feature). Your full detailed stats exist in exactly one place: your machine.
- No code, prompts or file paths ever uploaded
- The server only sees aggregate counters — tokens saved, and by which feature
- Full detailed stats available in one place only: locally
GDPR compliantTokenade stops secret leaks
By default, Tokenade redacts secrets before they are ever sent to your AI model. What your agent reads on your machine, the model — and its provider — never sees.
- Cookies, session tokens & HTTP auth
- Generic credentials in prompts, configs & CLI flags
- PEM & crypto private keys
- 94 provider token formats (AWS, GitHub, Stripe, OpenAI…)
- Payment card numbers, checksum-validated
