About Tokenade
Tokenade makes AI coding affordable by automatically cutting the tokens your agents consume — without changing how you work.
Who we are
Tokenade is built by Paul Irolla, an independent developer who got tired of watching AI coding bills spiral month after month. The mission is simple: make the productivity gains of AI coding accessible to every developer, not just those with a generous expense account.
Why we built it
Modern AI coding agents — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf — are powerful, but they are voracious token consumers. Every file read, every tool call, every context window refill adds up. A productive day of AI-assisted coding can quietly burn through tens of millions of tokens.
We built Tokenade to make token reduction automatic and measurable. Instead of manually pruning context or guessing which calls are expensive, Tokenade intercepts the flow — semantic code search replaces full-file reads, output filtering strips noise before it reaches the model, skeleton compression shrinks large files to signatures, and lazy MCP loading defers tools until they are actually needed. The savings dashboard shows you exactly how much you saved and what it cost before.
What makes Tokenade different
- Works with every major AI coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf — via a single MCP server layer, zero per-agent configuration.
- Source-available (MIT licence): you can read every line, run it locally, and trust it with your codebase.
- Freemium: free up to ~20 million tokens saved per month, then Pro at $9.90/mo (excl. tax) — pay only when the savings are real.
